Inside the process · Portfolio
When I was designing the interface for my website, I wanted it to be a true reflection of my style while showcasing my work effectively. I decided to move away from the neutral look of my previous portfolio and sought to infuse more expressiveness and uniqueness into the design.
I had a pixel art profile picture that gave me the inspiration to create a personal brand motif for my portfolio website. I centered the entire visual style around this motif, using it as the focal point to create a cohesive look and feel.
To capture the style I was aiming for, I honed in on keywords like "fun," "goofy," "comic," "expressive," and "bold." These served as my guiding principles as I gathered inspiration and references from pixel art aesthetics online.
In developing the style guide, I selected Pixelify Sans as the display font because it perfectly embodied the identity I wanted to convey and exuded plenty of character. For the body font, I opted for Roboto Mono, as it complemented the sharp, geometric edges of the pixel art while maintaining excellent readability.
To inject a vibrant and bold aesthetic into the hero section of the website, I chose a striking yellow color to make a strong initial impression on visitors.
To add an extra touch of charm, I made the motif interactive, aiming to bring delight and surprise to visitors' experience on the website.
Ultimately, I believe was able to craft a distinctive identity for my website while keeping usability at the forefront. I welcome any questions or feedback you may have.
Peace ✌🏼
